Write and Shine Co. is a collaboration between Javacia Harris Bowser, founder of See Jane Write, and Charlene Lindsay, owner of Shine by Charlene. Through transformational and elevated journaling experiences and gifts, we provide the tools, guidance, and inspiration to help women write their way to the lives of their dreams.
MEet Javacia
Javacia is an award-winning journalist, essayist and entrepreneur
based in Birmingham, Alabama, and the founder of See Jane Write—
a website, community, and coaching service for women who write.
She likes to sum up her work this way: "I write stories for women and
about women and help women write stories of their own."
Writing is Javacia's superpower. In fact, she wrote her way through
cancer in 2020. In 2022, she published her first book, Find Your Way Back: How to Write Your Way Through Anything. This essay collection explores how she's used writing to battle cancer, boost self-love, and create the life of her dreams. Javacia is a former teacher and TEDx speaker. As a journalist, Javacia has written for Elle, BET.com, Shondaland, Good Housekeeping and a host of other publications.
Javacia has led over a dozen journaling workshops and countless writing seminars. She is also
the host of The Writeous Babe Podcast, which she calls “the grown woman’s guide to journaling” to give women the inspiration and practical tools to create a life-changing journaling practice.
MEet Charlene
Charlene is the owner and creative force of Shine by Charlene, an event
planning and custom gift company. Her company creates events and
gifts that are personal, bespoke, and distinct. Her clients include
Progressive Insurance, Dropbox, small business owners, professionals,
moms, and everyone in between.
Charlene has been a longtime believer in the power of events and gifts
as ways to create and share joy, even (and especially) in the midst of difficult seasons. However, it wasn’t until later in life that she learned the power of writing. In the midst of a pandemic, career, growing business, and motherhood, Charlene found herself pulled in many directions and feeling burned out in each role. Through journaling she gained the clarity and confidence to make decisions based on her own values and step into the woman she wanted to become.
Journaling became a part of Charlene’s life. And it eventually became a part of her business after reaching out to Javacia to collaborate to create journaling gift boxes and experiences so that more women could find clarity and confidence through journaling.
Journaling is paying attention to the inside for the purpose of living well from the inside out.
